I adore people being a village for children they don't know yet. It's the sweetest thing when others show up for kids, they're just so precious. I hope this business is popular for many many years to come. The boss is someone to admire. 💕💕 it might look like fries, but it's really physical love for little hearts who will remember this kindness and be shaped by it.

Slovakia recently ceased generation at its last coal-fired power plant - the Vojany power station.
+
Originally scheduled for 2030, Slovakia advanced its coal phaseout to mid-2024, joining other European countries like Belgium, Austria, Sweden, and Portugal in becoming coal-free.
+
Slovenské elektrárne, the company that owns the plant, says the electricity will go green. It will come almost entirely from nuclear and renewable resources.

Precious Molly.xxx🥰

I would keep her. Couldn't bring her back 🙈

Taylor and Drew Deras, are married nurses who work in the NICU at Methodist Womens Hospital in Omaha, NE. In May 2021, a baby girl named Ella was born prematurely at 23 weeks at their hospital. Taylor cared for Ella in the NICU for 8 months as she faced serious health challenges.
+
In December 2021, Ella became a ward of the state and the Derases decided to become her foster parents. They cared for her after she was discharged.
+
On November 18, 2022, National Adoption Day, the couple officially adopted Ella. Today, Ella is thriving, with her well-being improving through weekly speech therapies and additional treatments.
+
I loved her as my patient, and then once we became foster parents, I loved her as my own child, Taylor commented. Now, shes walking and talking and meeting developmental milestones that a 2-year-old would do. And shell start preschool in the fall.

Brianna Hurst, 33, was sitting alone on a beach near Apollo Bay, Australia, when a man ran up screaming for help. Four men had been swimming and three started struggling.
+
Before Brianna could process it, she jumped into the water and swam out about 20 meters to the closest unconscious man. Though much bigger, she pulled him to shore and then went back for the other two men.
+
With help from others on the beach, Brianna performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
+
She put herself in danger to rescue people she didnt know. It’s heroic, Senior Sergeant Stephen Bull commented.
+
Sadly, one of the men passed away, while the other two were taken to the hospital.

I did this for my loving boyfriend who misses his family that he’s been away from for the past 6 months.
+
That’s all I care about. He is missing his little brother grow up. The least I can do is something like this for him, for the sacrifice he is making.

Adorable

Japanese researchers at the University of Tokyo recently observed eight mating pairs of Japanese tits, a small bird species.
+
Professor Toshitaka Suzuki noticed they would flutter their wings to signal their mate to enter the nest first when returning with food. The researchers analyzed over 320 visits and found that wing fluttering prompted the mate to enter first about 90% of the time.
+
The findings, published in Current Biology, are notable because symbolic gestures were thought to be limited to humans and apes. This wing fluttering fulfills the criteria for a symbolic after you gesture as it occurs only in the mates presence and encourages the mate to enter the nest first.
+
There is a hypothesis that walking on two legs allowed humans to maintain an upright posture, freeing up their hands for greater mobility, contributing to the evolution of gestures. Similarly, when birds perch on branches, their wings become free, which we think may facilitate the development of gestural communication, Suzuki concluded.

A medical team in Korea became the first to transplant a 3D-printed windpipe into a patient in 2023. The recipient was a woman in her 50s who lost part of her windpipe after thyroid cancer surgery.
+
The artificial windpipe was specially designed for her using stem cells from other patients and materials like PCL plastic for support. It took under 2 weeks to print at T&R Biofab.
+
The goal is for the 3D-printed windpipe to help the patients body regenerate her own windpipe in the next 5 years before the plastic support degrades.
+
While its too soon to say that 3D-bioprinting could be the solution for the current shortage of organs for transplantation, it definitely increases the hopes to partially solve the issue for some organs..., Dr Paulo Marinho, head of scientific strategy at T&R Biofab, commented.
